The advantages and disadvantages of patience.
Is there anything more damaging to your ability to succeed than throwing in the towel too soon? Your impatience with results could be why you feel stuck in a hamster wheel, unable to escape your mediocre life.
Patience is the key to success in business, life, and relationships. You know the saying, “Good things are worth waiting for,” but in our instant society, it is challenging to keep our eyes on the end goal.
But when you persevere with patience and consistency, you will reap the results of your hard work.
Instead of being impatient with results, strive to be “impatient” with actions.
Let Meru Mentor, your trusted life coaching and mentoring expert, explain.
When we’re impatient to see things moving in the right direction, we are more inclined to keep working toward our goals. However, when we are impatient with our results, we may think that we need to switch things up before it is necessary, derailing us from achieving our end goals.
Patience takes practice.
Biblical Characteristics of Patience
My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. James 1:2-3
Patience is mentioned a lot in the Bible. From being patient in our tribulations and waiting on the Lord to having patience with others, we’re called to have a whole lot of patience in this life.
Learning to have patience (in all areas of life) will originate from having peace and contentment in Him — the One who holds it all and knows the future long before we do. If you can rest in His truths, you will see improvement in your impatience.
Take Action to Achieve Your Goals
Regardless of your business goals, personal life goals, or need for more financial income — if you make a plan, stick to it!
Consistency and patience are the keys to succeeding and moving from a mediocre life to one you love. Remember, taking action — whether big or small — is still moving you in the right direction. Over time, these small steps forward will allow you to see big changes, leading to a transformative self-improvement journey.
Here are a few examples:
- If you desire to lose weight but don’t put the work (action) in to lose the weight, you’ll be left in the “wanting” stage forever. Instead, consistently move toward your goal whether that’s an adjusted diet or a more active lifestyle.
- If you desire to be more financially stable but don’t use your time wisely, you’re unlikely to see your finances improve.
- If you desire to make a large purchase, such as a house or vehicle, but are unwilling to make sacrifices where necessary (whether time or money), it will be much more difficult, if not impossible, to make that purchase.
